What is wrong with socialism, why can't Americans accept it?.?

Socialism has never worked for the benefit of the people. It promotes laziness and prevents people from being in control of their own lives and improving their lives through strong work ethics and drive. America was founded on a strong work ethic and drive which puts the American Dream for each in reach. Big governement time and time again in history has proven to back fire on the people. This is a very sad time!
